Mela Gerofoti was born in Thessaloniki.
Είναι απόφοιτη του τμήματος Μουσικής Επιστήμης και Τέχνης του Πανεπιστημίου Μακεδονίας, με ειδίκευση στην Μονωδία, πτυχιούχος ανώτερων θεωρητικών (τάξη Γιάννη Γράμψα) καθώς και διπλωματούχος Μονωδίας (τάξη Σοφίας Κυανίδου). She studied jazz piano and jazz song repertoire next to Professor Grigoris Simadopoulos.
Her artistic activity already includes three participations in the new Greek discography (“Sta fanera kai ta afanerota” and “Portrait” by Michalis Goutis, “Ston Agion ta nera” by Ch. Gatzoflias and L. Antoniadis) while she prepares her first personal discographic work in collaboration with the composer Stavros Stavridis. She collaborated with the composer Dimitris Maramis as a performer of his works (Symposium, Concert Erotokritos, The Music of the Rotunda, etc.). She appeared in many important historical sites and theaters, in Greece and abroad.
She has participated in musical events and performances such as “Blue Moon” (Thessaloniki Concert Hall), “The Strings of the Wind” (Melina Mercouri Theater), “The Water Cycle” (Byzantine Baths of Thessaloniki), “Jazz meets classical” (Concert Hall) Thessaloniki), “Jazz on Cinema” (Vafopouleio Cultural Center) – “Remember those years” (Municipal Theater of Serres), in important festivals of the country (Festival Para thin ‘alos, Edessa Spring Festival, Delphi Festival, Aegean Art Festival Episkopi Crete etc.), as well as in performances of classical repertoire such as the operetta “The Baptist” (Thessaloniki Concert Hall) and the children’s classical opera “The Snow Knight” by Cesar Cui (Colosseum Theater of Thessaloniki). She often participates in theater plays, as a singer and as an actress (Dark Anthology of poetry from the “Theater of the Past”, Damned Marriage and The House of Bernarda Alba by FG Lorca, etc.).
She loves the art of music and experiences it as a way of easily recognizing the essence and harmony in life. When she is not into music as a singer, she devotes her time to teaching singing. At the same time, she is involved as an amateur in painting, as well as in writing poems.
