The contrabass is the largest musical string instrument and produces the deepest sound in contrast with the rest of the violin “family”. Its history begins in the second half of the 16th century and for almost two centuries it functioned as an accompanying instrument of the viola, until Mozart composed the first solo piece for contrabass and the course of the instrument changed! Over the years the contrabass broke away from its classical context and became the main instrument of the jazz music scene. Through the double bass lessons the student has the opportunity to develop skills in either classical or jazz repertoire, and to enhance his musicality in an elegant and methodical way.
