Stelios Tsompanidis was born in Thessaloniki in November of 1983. His first contact with the rhythm was through his father, Dimitris Tsompanidis (drummer) in the early age of 6 years old. His instinctual charisma led him to the path of music studies.
He studied Harmony Specified and Jazz Harmony in a conservatory in Thessaloniki. He also has the diploma of music in specialization in drums from the University of LCM London College.
He has attended seminars and classes of musicians such as: Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, Lenny White, Horacio Hernadez, Roberto Gatto, Jaimeo Brown.
The styles of rhythms and improvisations he has studied are Jazz, Fusion, Funk, Latin, Rock, Metal, solo rhythms, traditional, modern.
Stelios musical influences vary from Michel Camilo , Dave Weckl , Chick Corea , Art Blackey , Buddy Rich , Jack Dejohnette, Tower of Power , Dave Mathews band to Horacio el negro hernadez , Keith Jarett.
He was the co-founder and an active leading member of the Μusic Workshop traditional & modern music from 2006 until 2014.
His first personal record with jazz-fusion style “Spirit Grace (Τableau)” was released in September of 2008 in collaboration with Manos Kourtis.
He was a professor of music at the Conservatory of the Municipality of Sikies, at the Conservatory of Northern Greece, Conservatory of Municipality of Toumpa “Kostas Matsigkos” and Music workshop traditional & modern music.
In September of 2014 he opened his own Music School and record company under the name AMS (About Music Studios & Lessons) in which he works today.
His sincere love for music led him the redaction of books so as he can share this passion of his with others. He has published two books with the titles “Rythmic Solfez 1 and 2” and “Rock on drum” with main subject the learning of drums.
The last 17 years he has participated in many concerts and make plenty of appearances in Greece and abroad with various artist such as: Elli Paspala, Lizeta Kalimeri, Giorgos Dalaras, Basilis Lekkas, Basilis Papakostantinou, Agamoi Thitai, Petros Gaitanos, Manolis Mitsias, Giota Negka, Filipos Nikolaou, Foibos Deliborias, Anna Zisi, Mario, Katerina Siapanta, Kosta Milosis, Basilis Blue Sotiriou, Nikos Ntounousis, Pitsa Papadopoulou, Kostas Pratsinakis, Pratsinakis Five Group and many others.
Also, Stelios is a member of the music groups: Evis Siamantas, Mairy Doutsi&the Swingers, Aris Alvanos, Antonis Sousamoglou, Kostas Makedonas, Eleftheria Patsi, Maria Mourtzou, Koza Mostra, Soundays.
He has collaborated many times with Thessaloniki city Symphonic Orchestra in concerts in Thessaloniki Music Hall and also in other cities in Greece and abroad.
He has been a member of the music band “Agamoi Thitai” with whom they produced concerts in the National Theatre of Northern Greece.
Stelios recorded the song “Omorfi Zoi” with Theodoris Voutsikakis and Antonis Sousamoglou which was the soundtrack of the advert of beer Alfa. Also, he recorded the new sound signs of TV100 and FM100.
