Stergios Koias was born in Veria in 1977. His great love for music led him to start drum lessons in 1995, in his hometown, in jazz, blues, latin, funk, pop, rock and reggae rhythms.
He then attended various seminars in afro-cuban and brazilian music for drums, at MMS (Modern Music School) in Thessaloniki.
As part of his education, and his restless spirit, he constantly attends seminars at every opportunity with musicians from around the world, such as Hector Martignon, Panagiotis Andreou & Mauricio Herrrera, Greg Hutchinson’s, Stelios Tsombanidis, Dimitris Kosmidis , Fotis Vakouftsis, Fotis Giannopoulos and others.
At the same time, he transmits, teaching non-stop, his knowledge for ten years, initially at the BOLERO Conservatory of Thessaloniki and then at the Toumba Conservatory of Costas Matsigos.
Simultaneously with the teaching part, he is active and collaborates with notable musicians and bands on stage, since 1998 giving concerts in Greece, Europe, as well as in distant Asia.
As a key member of the bands “The Speakeasies’ Swing Band!, of Global Vibe, of Νasa Funk of Ρεβάνς, and the of the group Christos El Papadopoulos quintet, and with festival tours in Greece in Italy, England, France, Belgium, Denmark in distant Thailand, Bahrain in Arabia, he participated in many jazz and swing music scenes around the world.
As in “Summer Jamboree” Italy, in “Hep Cats Holidays” UK, Copenhagen Lindy exchange festival, “Bansko Jazz Festival” Bulgaria “Diga Diga Doo” festival in Bangkok, Thailand, Jyvazik festival Brussels, Bahrain jazz festival and many more.
With appearances as a session musician, he has collaborated with artists such as Kosta Bravaki, Katerina Makavou, Gianni Mitsi, Vaso Vasiliadou, Saki Zachariadi, Giula Michael, Natasa Mutsidouand Mano Kurti, in music bands like Soul Fire, Mary Doutsi & the swingers, Maria Elbrus, NASA FUNK, Bluebeat company, Milky lady & the cookies, Dixie Fried, Electric Blue, King Be etc.
However, part of his artistic activity is the theatrical collaborations since 2004, as with NTNG in the orchestra of the show ‘One Comedy’ to music by Yuri Stupel and directed by George Remundos.
In the NTNG with the rock opera “ALEXANDER THE GREAT” of Konstantinos Athyridis.
In 2014 he was a member of the orchestra in the musical “DORIAN GRAY’ directed by Anta Tsesmeli.
In the Athens Festival and inEpidavros participated in the musical performance Homesickness Blues to music by Costas Vombolos,
InThessaloniki Concert Hall in a children’s show «the real gifts of Santa Claus» directed by Stella Michailidou and music by Costa Vombolou. As well as by participating in the orchestra of the theatrical solo act “Down by the rock law” of Costas Gakidis.
